Best Black Friday-like SSD deals

You’ve come home from a long day and want to kick back with your favourite videogame, only to find out there’s an update so big it can no longer fit on your device – yes, we’re looking at you, Call of Duty. It sounds like you might need a new SSD, which doesn’t have to cost as much as you think.

Games are constantly getting bigger, whether you’re paying attention to the intricate graphical details or getting lost in their sprawling worlds as Rockstar, Bethesda, and Ubisoft all compete for the largest map possible. Even Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War barely fits on a 250GB drive with all game modes taking up a hefty 175GB.

Your first thought might be to buy a new hard drive, and you wouldn’t be wrong in thinking they offer more capacity for a significantly lower price. But unless you want to spend more time hanging around on a loading screen than playing the game, you’re better off with a good SSD to speed things up. There are even plenty of deals from WD, Samsung, and Crucial that rival what we’ll see on Black Friday if you don’t want to wait around.

Here’s everything you need to know about Black Friday, 2021:

WHEN IS BLACK FRIDAY 2021?

Black Friday deals will start to crop up at the beginning of November as the event now lasts the best part of a month, but the cream of the crop will appear on November 26, 2021. This is quickly followed by Cyber Monday three days later on November 29.

HOW TO FIND THE BEST BLACK FRIDAY DEALS

Throughout the event, we’ll collect all the best Black Friday deals onto a single page, which is worth bookmarking if you’re in the market for new gaming PC components, peripherals, laptops, and more. When a deal stands out, we’ll also highlight the discount so you don’t miss a thing.

If console deals are more your jam, you might want to head over to our friends at The Loadout or Pocket Tactics, as they’ll shine a spotlight on all things Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch.

The best SSD deals

Western Digital is constantly challenging Samsung for the title of ‘best SSD for gaming‘, and the WD_Black SN750 certainly gives most its competitors a run for their money thanks to its 3,470MB/s sequential read speed and 3,000MB/s sequential write speed. You can read more about it in our WD_Black SN750 review here.

Over on Amazon US, the NVMe SSD is reduced by 48% ($120), reducing it to $129.99 – a deal that easily rivals Black Friday if you don’t fancy waiting around. There’s also an identical 42% (£79.41) discount on Amazon UK that lets you pick up the same model for less than £112.

This year hasn’t been the kindest to gaming hardware stock, so you might not want to wait around if a deal catches your eye. If you subscribe to Amazon Prime, you can actually skip the queues and get free delivery to boot. In the meantime, stay tuned, as we’ll be updating this page with new deals when they come to light.
