Excited to find out who made it onto the Street Fighter 6 roster? While the Street Fighter 6 release date is penciled in for 2023, Capcom has plenty of time to announce a few more surprises to the roster. Looking back to older games in the series, Street Fighter 4 launched with 25 characters, but the lacklustre Street Fighter 5 featured just 16 characters on day one. Capcom appears to be learning from its past mistakes, so we’re hoping for a large roster this time around.
In a surprising turn of events, Capcom has announced every character joining the Street Fighter 6 roster ahead of the game’s launch next year at TGS 2022.
Street Fighter 6 characters list
Here are the confirmed characters in the Street Fighter 6 roster so far:
- Ryu
- Chun Li
- Luke
- Jamie
- Guile
- Juri
- Kimberly
- Ken
- E Honda
- Blanka
- Dhalsim
- Manon
- Marisa
- Lily
- JP
- Dee Jay
- Cammy
- Zangief
Ryu
Ryu’s quest to fight the strongest opponents across the globe is far from over in Street Fighter 6. According to the Street Fighter Twitter account, Ryu doesn’t believe his journey is over yet as he learns to become a stronger fighter. His traditional gi has been altered with a kasaya (a robe worn by Buddhists), similar to the one worn by his master, Gouken.
Chun Li
With Shadaloo’s reign of terror officially over, Chun Li decided to quit her job as an ICPO agent. Instead, Chun Li runs kung fu classes as her day job, making her a valued member of her local community. She also spends her time looking after Li-Fen, one of the victims of the Black Moon Incident back in Street Fighter 5.
Luke
Luke’s brief introduction in Street Fighter 5 explains why he wanted to join the military. His father sacrificed himself protecting civilians during a terrorist attack, prompting Luke to join the Special Forces to become just like him. After a conversation with Guile, Luke decides to leave the military as he wants to try his hand at something new. In Street Fighter 6, he’s taken up a role as a contractor for a private military company.
Jamie
Jamie uses the Drunken Fist fighting style, a first for the Street Fighter series. When Jamie takes sips from his jug, he gains new special moves and receives additional options for some of his attacks. He’s heavily inspired by Yun and Yang, two popular characters from Street Fighter 3. Jamie’s moveset appears to borrow heavily from the twin’s attacks as he blends his unpredictable breakdancing style with some of their lightning-fast abilities.
Guile
Street Fighter’s family man, Guile returns to Street Fighter 6 after taking down Shadaloo and finally avenging Charlie’s death. Guile remains a member of the US Air Force, sporting a blue jumpsuit this time around. He briefly served as a mentor to Luke in Street Fighter 5, so we expect these characters to interact again now that Luke has pursued his new career path.
Juri
Juri returns to Street Fighter 6, wearing her costume from Super Street Fighter IV. It appears Juri’s fighting style has been improved, now she can fire low projectiles and perform her jumping axe kick without having to spend any Fuha stocks. Fans will be pleased to know Juri’s flying dive kick is back, giving her an excellent attacking option while airborne.
Kimberly
A student of the Ninja known as Guy (yes, the man from Street Fighter Alpha and Final Fight), Kimberly has graduated from college early and is committed to becoming a fully-fledged ninja. As a fan of ’80s pop culture, Kimberly comes equipped with a cassette stocked with classic tunes which she occasionally utilises during her special moves.
Ken
Ken returns to Street Fighter 6 in a much scruffier state than the last time we saw him. Sporting a tan coat, a dark vest, and boots over his standard red Gi, he may be dressing casually, but his fighting style is anything but. Ken sports his range of target combos, fire-imbued dragon punches, and new moves to keep things spicy.
E Honda
The iconic sumo wrestler joins the cast of Street Fighter 6, sporting a new outfit over his traditional sumo garb. Honda’s famous Hundred Hand Slap now has an animation at the end of it to stun the opponent. It doesn’t look like Honda’s Street Fighter 2 stage is making a return any time soon, though this could change closer to release.
Blanka
Blanka is back, this time wearing a denim blue jumpsuit. His cartoon avatar from Street Fighter V can be spotted in World Tour trailer, which suggests Blanka already has a DLC costume available. Blanka’s Street Fighter 2 stage returns, featuring the giant tree with a large snake wrapped around it.
Dhalsim
Unlike a lot of returning characters in Street Fighter 6, Dhalsim’s appearance is largely unchanged from the last time we saw him. Patient players will be pleased to see Dhalsim’s stretchy limbs and fire projectiles remain intact. He doesn’t have access to his Street Fighter 2 stage, but it looks like Dhalsim does have a stage based in India featuring a golden statue in the background.
