Modern Warfare 2 mastery camos are a sign of prestige, an indication to your enemies and teammates alike that you know what you’re doing; you’ve put countless hours into the FPS game, and you are not to be trifled with. These weapon cosmetics are the rarest in Call of Duty, and require a lot of effort to unlock.

Unlocking every Modern Warfare 2 mastery camo is a lengthy process, requiring you to master each weapon platform individually. The traditional route to acquiring mastery camos for a weapon would be to first work through every regular camo challenge, which can range from simply getting kills, using certain attachments, or something more involved, like getting headshots while prone. Once every regular camo has been unlocked, that’s when the mastery grind begins.

How to unlock mastery Modern Warfare 2 camos

Just like the Modern Warfare 2 Gunsmith system which was upgraded to streamline the process of unlocking attachments for weapons, it appears the devs have taken the same approach when it comes to unlocking camos. There are over 180 base camos available at launch, with additional skins coming with new weapons throughout each season.

Mastery camos are back, this time arriving in four different varieties. These camos are available for one specific weapon, so you’re going to have to repeat all of the requirements every time you want a fancy skin for your next weapon.

• Gold: The Gold camo is unlocked once all of the base camo challenges have been completed
• Platinum: Platinum camo challenges become available once the Gold Camo has been unlocked across a minimum number of weapons in each category
• Polyatomic: The same applies to Polyatomic – players must unlock the Platinum Camo across a minimum of 51 weapons before the Polyatomic Camo become available
• Orion: To obtain the Orion skin, players must unlock Polyatomic Camo across a minimum of 51 weapons.
